Roar's Room Inspo

Posted by Virginia Whyms on

Ok. Here it is. Roars room mood board... storage, texture, interest and whymsy fun (if you know my name you get this!) these are the theme words I worked towards when searching for Roars room details.

This room is still just a dream and a mood board for now. Finances don't allow for us to make any changes just yet, and there is no need to move him out of his current space as there are no impending siblings (that I know of :) ). This blog has allowed me to discover what I like in terms of kids spaces and source some products that I'd love to use...

The bedrooms in our home are not the biggest so my aim is to utilise the space by choosing form with function to add more storage without overpacking and overwhelming the space. I don't currently have any toys in Rory's room, except the snuggle buddies he sleeps with. I deliberately have kept the toys in the general living space because I don't want him to be distracted overnight, or wake and play too early!

I’m obsessed with weathered wooden wallpaper and want to use it to add texture to the walls in a simple way. I’m leaning towards using a wallpaper under window height like the White Weathered Wood by Luxe Walls and a bold strong colour above like Hat Stand by Dulux .    I think it’s a beautiful colour and will allow the wallpaper to be highlighted.

Rory loves plush toys and books so I want to make sure he has storage for books and toys with this awesome bookcase from HipKids but the doors allow it to be a piece of interest on its own. They also allow things to be tidied away when not being used.

I came across an absolutely awesome way to use the ikea train tracks from Adair’s kids styling where they mounted it to the wall in a figure 8. I want to take it one step further and use it as the divider between wallpaper and paint. This way Rory has a toy permanently on his walls and it’s unique and interesting.

I will be moving Rory into a single bed at some stage this year. He’s a very tall little boy and he’s already pushing the boundaries of the baby bed so it may happen sooner rather than later.

I love the kids beds that are currently popular, the teepee and the house beds, however I need something that also come with storage. This is what I hope we can get for Rory to be able to mature with and won’t need updating until he outgrows it.

Accessories I would try to keep textural and tactile. I love Rebecca Judd Loves Adair’s Kids range, that’s where I found the gorgeous star throw $79.99, Big Stuffed Albino Bubble Whale $184.50 (€120), Sanderum Rug by Ikea 200x200cm $299, bedding by Mulberry Threads co. $149.95.

My last cute whimsy accessory for the room would be Hartendief's Sleepy Moon night light... its so unique and would look amazing against the dark painted walls...
